Javier Talamo, Attorney at Law
Before earning his law degree, Mr. Talamo was employed for some twenty years in various sectors of the healthcare industry. He is a licensed State of Florida Department of Health Respiratory Therapy Practitioner, and was Director of Patient Services at Pedi Stat Inc. in Miami from 1991 to 2004, where among other duties he was responsible for ensuring compliance with HIPAA and all state and federal regulatory agencies. He was also a branch manager for Glassrock Home Health Care and Universal Home Health Products, as well as a Respiratory Care Coordinator for Travenol Home Therapies. These years of experience give Mr. Talamo a unique knowledge of and appreciation for the problems faced by healthcare practitioners.
Mr. Talamo is Vice President, Chair of the State Legislative Committee and Chair of the Fraud and Abuse Committee for the Florida Association of Medical Equipment Services in Orlando. He is a former Vice President and Board Member of the Florida SIDS Alliance, and was actively involved in the Guantanamo Refugee Assistance Program. Mr. Talamo earned his Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; his Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, in Communications from St. Thomas University in Miami; and was a member of the Hispanic Law Student Association and ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law. He also has several publications to his credit.
